Incontinence Help
Half of all women will at some point in their lives suffer the involuntary loss of urine. Many are reluctant to express the resulting inconvenience and even embarrassment to their physician.
Most prefer to continually use pads rather than choosing to have tests that might lead to surgical procedures, which they perceive to be painful and time-consuming and not without risk and cost.
Today, the new tension-free vaginal tape procedures offer same-day surgery with 80% cure rates. The tape is positional using local anesthesia.
Durability studies have shown continued effectiveness for five years or more.
At the Urology Center, our physicians have twelve months of experience with the SPARC anti-incontinence procedure with success rates exceeding the national average. After an initial visit, a test called the cystometrogram is done to exclude patients for whom tension-free tape is not likely to be effective. If the patient is a good candidate for the surgery, all that is left is an outpatient visit to South Mississippi Surgery Center for the procedure. The results are immediate.
